Orgia

Orgia

This is the script of Orgia, which Lucia Rikaki based on Pier Paolo Pasolini's play and was staged at the Elysee Theatre in Athens in October 1995 to commemorate the 20 years since his death. A man and a woman, heroes of everyday life, are trapped by society and their own inability to handle expressively their individuality and power. Pasolini's play premiered at the Deposito d'Arte Presente theatre, Turin, in late November 1968, with Laura Betti, Luigi Mezzanotte and Nelide Giammarco. Lucia Rikaki treated the Man's monologues as an internal dialogue between his two selves. She modified the text of the prologue and the sixth episode, introduced a first-person dialogue the Man has with himself, and added a non-speaking role for a child representing the Man's childhood memories.
